While Dora the Explorer poses gracefully beside the blooming daffodils at the Georgetown Library...
Her country bumpkin sister, Rainbow, is doing her best to look like she has been "rode hard and put away wet!"
Maybe it is because we haven't actually ever frozen this year, and the backyard is a complete mudhole. Anyone have any ideas for seeding the dog yard?

Nice looking thundershirts ! Dora will be wearing hers on Tuesday driving to New Jersey with a sour puss expression on her face during the entire trip.
We also have the muddy yard problem, and have found that putting out straw in the times of year when you can't seed works well. The straw seems to "stick" where there's no grass, and keeps the dogs from having constantly muddy feet. We also put out winter rye which will die in summer, but it holds down the mud in winter. Both of these things are cheap. We do also spend a lot of money every fall overseeding with regular grass...it's hard to have a good lawn when you have dogs, and we don't like using chemicals.
